MELBOURNE: Instead of champagne at a post final victory party, Ana Ivanovic plans spending Saturday night tossing some shrimp on an Australia Day barbecue. Ivanovic’s Australian Open may have ended with a 7-5, 6-3 loss to Maria Sharapova, but she said there were still some things to celebrate. Ivanovic’s uncle, Barana, who lives with his family in Melbourne’s bayside suburb of Mentone, is celebrating his birthday. That happens to coincide with Australia’s national holiday, so the family will be getting together, like thousands of others across the country, for a traditional barbecue. “We’re going to go to their place. I think they’re already preparing some barbecue,” she said. Ivanovic did not elaborate on exactly what would be cooking on the grill, but she definitely hoped discussion of the final would not be on the menu. “I really hope they won’t mention much about the match because I don’t know how happy I will be to talk about it,” she said. “But still, we going to try to have fun. It was great two weeks for me, so we can celebrate something.” — AP
