118 students get placements in a career fete held as part of a vocational exhibition. KOCHI: A two-day vocational exhibition that concluded at Marine Drive on Sunday provided career openings to 118 students. Five companies recruited them in the career fest organised as part of the expo. The expo was organised by the Department of Vocational Higher Secondary Education. Seminars and discussions were also organised for making the students aware of the career openings in India and abroad. It was an attempt to link vocational training and production sectors for the benefit of students. In the expo, 91 stalls were set up by vocational schools in the State. government institutions. Private entrepreneurs set up 60 stalls at the fair. The vocational expo will be organised in a more elaborate manner with the cooperation of the National Innovation Foundation in the coming years, according to a statement issued by the organisers. Innovative ideas of the students will be nurtured and the process will be made part of the education system. Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy hoisted the National Flag on Saturday. Later, S. Sarma, State Fisheries Minister, inaugurated the fair.
