Jobs for youth demanded
HYDERABAD: The city-based Artisans Welfare Organisation that represents the interests of goldsmiths and other backward class communities has appealed to the State and Centre to provide jobs to unemployed youth in proportion to their population.
In a statement here on Sunday, A. Ravindrachary, national secretary, said goldsmiths and BC artisans were finding daily sustenance difficult in view of the readymade jewellery and steel utensils flooding the market.
Besides, police harassment had increased because of rising theft cases of gold jewellery.
He wanted Government to open training centres on traditional crafts in all districts for the benefit of BC youth and arrange marketing of handloom cloth produced by weavers through APCO.
He pleaded for a separate ministry at the Central and State levels and a corporation for the welfare of BC communities.
