‘The big book of little geniuses’ comprises paintings and short essays Chennai: Some children wanted to be astronauts, others wanted to become doctors. A few even wanted to grow up to be magicians, firemen and rock stars. ‘The big book of little geniuses’ compiled by ING Vysya, a financial services provider, showcases children’s dreams for their future expressed through paintings and short essays. L. Murli, the firm’s regional vice president, released the book here on Saturday. He said the contest titled ‘I want to be a star when I grow up’ provided young minds an opportunity to develop their creative skills. Participants were aged between 3 and 10 years. About 400 essays and paintings, short listed from 5,000 entries, are featured in the book. Four winners were selected by draw of lots from the shortlist. Each of them won a single premium policy of Rs.50,000 that would help them with their higher studies. E. Santhosh of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Karthik Varun of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, V. Gnanasekaran of Nazareth Matriculation Higher Secondary School and M. Saipavan Kumar of Chinmaya Vidyalaya won the prizes. Karthik Varun said he wanted to be a scientist when he grew up. “I can take apart my toy cars and fix them again. I even repaired a broken mosquito hitting bat on my own,” he said.
