In his welcome note, Academy chairperson Kedar Mishra explained that the Academy was launched last year with an exclusive library and documentation centre on Orissa’s art and culture. The poetry festival was planned to encourage the new generation to pursue a serious interest in Oriya language. Saraswati Samman awardee Jagannath Prasad Das inspired us to host such an annual literary festival in the State, Mr. Mishra added.
