Sunni students take out rally

Staff Reporter

United front: A rally taken out by the Samastha Kerala Sunni Students Federation in Malappuram.

MALAPPURAM: Muslim Youth League president Panakkad Syed Sadikali Shihab Thangal has called upon the Union and State governments to give shape to development projects capable of ensuring social justice to all sections.

Inaugurating a rally organised by the Samastha Kerala Sunni Students’ Federation on Republic Day here, Mr. Thangal said the benefits of the Five-Year Plans were yet to reach the grassroots. Openings should be provided to all sections to rise to the mainstream, he said.

Mr. Thangal said India’s non-alignment stand had given the country respect throughout the world. Deviating from that was tantamount to disrespecting the country’s former leaders.

Thousands of workers of the federation took part in a rally with the message of “Preserving friendship for the country’s safety.” Federation’s district president Panakkad Sayed Hameedali Shihab Thangal and general secretary Sathar Panthallur led the rally.

The rally began from the Sunni Mahal premises at Kizhakkethala and ended in front of the Civil Station, after passing through Kottappadi, Kunnummal and Jubilee Road. Sayed Hameedali Shihab Thangal administered a pledge at the rally. K.P. Ramanunni, writer, was chief guest.
