DEHRA DUN: The Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology (U-COST) has invited nominations for the first State level awards in the field of science journalism for outstanding reporting/article writing in print media. These awards will be given separately under male and female category. The applications must reach the council latest by February 15, 2008. The details of the awards can be seen at the U-COST website www.ucost.in, Rajendra Dobhal, Director, said. These awards were announced by the then Chief Minister, Narayan Dutt Tiwari at the first regional Workshop for Enhancement of Science Coverage in Media organised by the Lokhit Foundation in Dehra Dun on December 4, 2006. Welcoming the institution of the awards, the Foundation Chairperson, Bithi Chandramohan said the awards would go a long way in encouraging science writing as required at the grassroot level and help develop a scientific temper amongst the women, children and the young generation of the State.
