12,455 students appear for COMED-K test

Bangalore: As many as 12,455 students appeared for the Post Graduate Entrance Test (PGET 2008), conducted by the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMED-K), on Sunday, for admissions to 11 medical and 18 dental colleges in the State.

There are 421 seats on offer in postgraduate degree courses and 236 seats in diploma courses in private medical colleges. There are 365 seats on offer in private dental colleges. About 2,000 more candidates had applied for the examination, compared to last year.

The test had over 13,226 applicants, of which 7,849 students were from outside the State. The test was held at 18 centres in Bangalore.

The examinations went off smoothly in all centres in the city. While 8,989 candidates took the entrance for admission to medical colleges, as many as 4,237 appeared for the dental entrance. The COMEDK PGET test score will be posted on February 18 on its website, www.comedk.org, and the courses are scheduled to commence in May. The number of seats available and the seat sharing matrix will be the same as last year.
