Sarpanch held

CUTTACK: Vigilance sleuths earlier this week arrested and forwarded to court a sarpanch for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe. Nutan Kumar Rout of Dorada GP of Athagarh block of this district was booked under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act. Investigations into the case are on, said a Vigilance Department press release.

Rout had demanded Rs. 3,500, as gratification from one village contractor to release the latter’s final bill of a road construction worth Rs. 73,000.
