“Delhi Govt. committed to welfare of the poor”

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has reiterated that her Government was committed to the welfare of the poor and has prioritised poor-centric schemes.

Speaking at the inauguration of three “chaupals” for poor families at Patel Nagar here on Sunday, Ms. Dikshit said a revised Public Distribution Scheme was being implemented to ensure adequate amount of essential commodities to middle income families.

Subsidised electricity

“Poor families in Delhi would soon be provided subsidised electricity. A number of schemes will also be implemented for uplift of women, girls and deprived persons.”

Ms. Dikshit also said that a new university Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University would soon be started and also urged people to utilise buses for commuting.

Members of Parliament J.P. Agarwal and Krishna Tirath were also present on the occasion.
