NEW DELHI: Former Union Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Vijay Goel has demanded a CBI enquiry into the Public Distribution System-Liquid Petroleum Gas scam. In a statement here on Sunday, Mr. Goel said he would lodge a complaint with the Chief Vigilance Officer in this regard and may also take to the streets to protest against the Delhi Government’s “misuse of the PDS”. Mr. Goel said: “Poor people are being harassed by demands of various documents for issuance of Below Poverty Line cards. Ration is purchased under fake identities and then sold at a high price in the open market. There is connivance between the Government and the bureaucracy.” The wheat and rice provided by the Central Government under the “Antyodya” scheme for the benefit of the poor is being sold in the open market. “The poor are not deriving any benefit from the scheme. The Delhi Government has exhibited abject indifference to the plight of the common man,” he added.
