MADURAI: Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam cadres have decorated Madurai with flags, festoons and huge flex hoardings to celebrate the 57th birthday of M.K. Azhagiri, son of Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, on January 30. The ruling party men have been putting up the multi-colour hoardings on arterial roads, pavements, in front of commercial establishments and on the busy road junctions for the past 15 days. Big arches are coming up on the Madurai-Melur highway for the celebration to be organised in a marriage hall. The Madurai party urban district unit will give away 57 iron boxes, sewing machines and tricycles (for physically challenged). A local cable television channel has been “telecasting live” a Twenty 20 cricket tournament being held to commemorate the birthday of “Annan” (big brother). Mr. Azhagiri gave away the Rising Sun T20 trophy to the victorious Arasardi Cricket Club. Interestingly, his son Durai Dayanidhi, received the best batsman of the tournament award from his father.
