Youth leadership award presented

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: Every youth should work to abolish illiteracy, ignorance and poverty, as observed by Swami Vivekananda for making India a superpower economically, spiritually and religiously, said Inspector General of Police (North Zone) K. Radhakrishnan.

He was speaking at a seminar titled ‘Youth leadership for a vibrant India,’ organised by Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, here on Sunday.

Mr. Radhakrishnan presented the youth leadership award to Rajath M. Sisodiya, a third year student of Commerce at D.G. Vaishnav College, Arumbakkam. Quoting the life of Vivekananda, he emphasised the importance of time, discipline, hard work and trust, which a youth should inculcate.

Swami Bodhmayananda, Coordinator of the Personality Development Project of the ashrama, participated in the seminar.

The award, instituted to encourage and recognise leadership qualities in youths, consists of a certificate, a portrait of Swami Vivekananda, nine volumes of the works of Vivekananda and a book containing the life history of Vivekananda.
