Constable hangs himself to death CRIME NOTES

BANGALORE: Lakkana (56), a head constable attached to the fourth battalion of the Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP), allegedly hanged himself to death from a tree at the KSRP Grounds in Madivala police limits on Saturday.

A resident of Venkatapura, Lakkana has left a note stating that he ended his life as he was very ill and that no one was responsible for his act.

Body found

The body of a man, aged between 25 and 30, was found in an open field near Byrasandra Lake in Tilaknagar police limits on Sunday. The police suspect that the man may have been stabbed to death on Saturday. The body has been burnt using kerosene. It is beyond recognition, the police said.

Seized

The Nelamangala police arrested two persons and seized illicit liquor worth Rs. 50,000 on Sunday. Raju (30) and Mahesh (28), both from Channapatna, were allegedly transporting the liquor from Hubli to Bangalore when the police arrested them at Lotegollahalli.

Arrested

The Thygarajanagar police have arrested a 19-year-old boy on the charge of abducting a minor girl.

According to the police, Sathya alias Sathyamurthy, a resident of Hosakerehalli, who had allegedly eloped with the girl aged 17, was arrested on Saturday after the police tracked the two down to a house near Bhemmanna Koppa.

The police said that the girl had apparently been making calls to her friends asking for money.

Woman dies

Meena (25), a resident of Hongasandra, died of burns on Saturday. Married to Vasu, a labourer, Meena suffered burns when a stove burst accidentally at her residence on January 13.
