Tamil and Hindi movies are giving the Malayalam film industry a run for its money these days. The long queues of film buffs waiting to see Amir Khan’s Taare Zameen Par and Vikram’s Bhima is a pointer to the growing demand for such movies here. The unprecedented rush for Taare Zameen Par, which narrates the story of a dyslexic child, is encouraging distributors to wrap in more movies from Bollywood these days. Bhima is also on the top charts. Director Linguswamy has taken care to offer a fast-paced narrative packed with action. If Bhima is winning hearts, Ajith’s Billa is not behind. After a successful run at Padma theatre in Kochi, the movie was shifted to Kanoos last week. The going is great for the movie, which had also given a big break for actor Ajith. There is also good news for English movie fans. Sylvester Stallone’s John Rambo is being screened at Sridhar. The fourth film in the ‘Rambo’ series puts outcast John Rambo back in the role of military saviour. G. Krishnakumar
