Puducherry: S. Archana, a Standard X student of Don Bosco Matriculation Higher Secondary School, has brought laurels to the Union Territory. She bagged the silver medal in pole vault in the under-17 category at the 53rd National School Games, organised by the School Games Federation of India in Kolkata from January 7 to January 11. This award is special because it is after three years that a medal is being won at the national level by a person from Puducherry. The school celebrated the Republic Day in a grand manner. The theme of the celebration was ‘Stand united and breathe the fragrance of freedom’. The principal hoisted the National Flag. This was followed by a cultural programme by the students to create awareness of their Constitutional Rights. To grab the interest of the tiny tots of the school, a recitation competition was conducted for the primary students. Many students participated in the competition enthusiastically and showcased their talent. Students of Standard IX recently visited Pondicherry Sugar Mills, Lingareddipalayam, and Ravikumar Distilleries as part of their curriculum.
