Lifetime achievement award for Jayasudha

37th Andhra Pradesh Cinegoers’ Association annual film awards given away

HYDERABAD: ‘Sahaja Nati’ Jayasudha received the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ instituted by the Andhra Pradesh Cinegoers’ Association from renowned filmmaker and Member of Parliament, Shyam Benegal on Sunday evening.

Reacting to the award, the ever-smiling, genial Jayasudha had the audience in splits when she expressed her gratefulness at receiving the 37th Annual Film Award of the Association in the 37th year after she faced a movie camera for the first time.

Felicitated

While Mr. Benegal was felicitated for getting the Dada Saheb Phalke Award, comedian and character actor Brahmanandam, who found a place in the Guinness Book of World Records, was honoured with the Best Comedian Award for his role in ‘Pokiri’.

Union Minister of Mines, T. Subbirami Reddy, attended. Earlier, Mr. Benegal gave away the award for the Best Multiplex to Ramesh Prasad of Prasad’s Multiplex and the Best Film Journalist Award to Challa Srinivas of the Telugu daily ‘Andhra Bhoomi’. www.idlebrain.com got the award for the Best Telugu Film website while ‘Sitara’ was adjudged the Best Film Journal.

Pixelloid Computer Services got the Best Special Effects Award for the film ‘Sainikudu’ and it was received by the company’s founder Yugandhar Tammareddy.

Special Jury

The Special Jury Awards went to producer Lagadapati Sridhar and to director Lawrence, both for ‘Style’, to Chandra Mahesh for the film ‘Hanumanthu’, to RK (Mamu) for ‘Hyderabad Nawabs’ and to model and heroine Madhushalini for the film ‘Kithakithalu’.

Others present included G.S.Varadachary and B. Kishan, president and general secretary respectively, of the AP Cinegoers’ Association.
