CPI (M) demo against frequent power cuts

CPI(M) activists stage a demonstration in Puducherry on Monday.

PUDUCHERRY: Activists of the Puducherry unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Monday staged a demonstration protesting against the alleged “undeclared power cut” several areas. Led by the secretary of the Oulgaret unit of the CPI (M) S. Lenin Durai, the activists took out a torchlight procession from Lawspet to Tagore Nagar. They raised slogans calling for measures on a war-footing to prevent recurrence of power cuts.

Puducherry unit CPI (M) secretary V. Perumal and Tamil Nadu State Committee member of the party T. Murugan flayed the Electricity Department for not resorting to remedial measures though it had been brought to the notice of the authorities concerned.With each spell lasting two to three hours in the current month, the power interruption badly hit the functioning of various educational institutions, business establishments and residential areas, Mr. Perumal said.
