Drive against illegal cracker units

VIRUDHUNAGAR: Surprise raids will be conducted to detect illegal cracker manufacturing units in the district, the Collector, V. Chandrasekaran, has said.

In a statement, he said that accidents in illegal units were causing loss of property and lives. Though the district administration had taken several steps, despite knowing that it was a dangerous attempt, people were involved in these activities without taking necessary precautionary safety measures.
