GENDER ISSUES: Two-day capsule programme for woman police in Salem Range was organised in Salem on Monday . SALEM: Perturbed over the rising human trafficking and violence against women, Tamil Nadu Police has undertaken sensitisation exercises for woman police personnel at various places on the provisions and amendments in laws related to women welfare. As the Government is very sensitive on the issues of harassment against women, we have been asked to carry out this exercise in each and every zone where woman police personnel will be made aware of the nuances of the acts such as the Prohibition of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005 and The Prohibition of Women from Harassment Act 2004, said V. R. Soundar Rajan, Deputy Superintendent of Police, In-Service Training Centre here. Classes on these and other various subjects, which the police personnel encounter in todays changing scene of crime, were being undertaken by a team of trained manpower. Outsourcing like psychologists, forensic experts, academicians, human rights activists and legal experts also could be done. As per the instructions, a two-day Capsule Course for Woman Police personnel of Salem Range was inaugurated here by DIG (Salem Range) N. Chenbharaman here on Monday. Women constables took part.
