Chitradurga: Another film is being shot here, a fortnight after the team making “Mandakini” was here for a shoot. This time, the film “Bhanta” is being shot at the historical Chitradurga Fort and a few other prominent areas here. Chitradurga, which is gradually turning into a favoured destination for filmmakers, offers several fascinating locations to choose from. The crew of the film is here to shoot song sequences. The producers B. Kantaraj, Sanjeev Reddy and Niranjan Murthy all are from Chitradurga. The film is the first venture of the producers, director Chandru and actor Rupashri. It also has actor Adi Lokesh. Speaking to presspersons here on Monday, Mr. Kantaraj said the production team, being from Chitradurga, wanted to incorporate takes from some parts of the city, in a song sequence. “We have specially created a song in the film to highlight various places in the city that are worth visiting, such as Chandravalli, Chitradurga Fort, Jogimatti, the windmills and the statues of Vanake Vobbavva and Madakari Nayak,” he said. To popularise the film among the local people, a small role had been given to producer Niranjan Murthy, who is a former president of the City Municipal Council, he added. Action-orientedSpeaking about the film, he said that over 90 per cent of the shooting had been done in Bangalore, Mysore and Ramanagara. The film is scheduled to be released in March. He, however, did not speak much about the plot on which the story was based, but said that it would be action oriented. The film has five songs, of which two have been shot in and around Chitradurga city, he said. Adi Lokesh said that after his previous film “Poojari,” this was his second as the protagonist. He said he had accepted a few negative roles since he found them challenging. “It does not matter whether the role is big or small. All that counts is its potential in the film. If the character is appealing, there is nothing wrong in accepting the offer,” he said. Speaking about his upcoming films, he said “Bidda” and “Gang leaders” were scheduled for release soon, while four films, including “Petrol” and “Nishedhagne”, were under production.
