‘Religious centres are lighthouses to society’

Correspondent

Bhagavad Gita movement lauded

SIRSI: By performing rites as stated in Dharma (religion), one would get peace and happiness, said Visveshwa Tirtha Swamiji of the Pejawar Math.

He was delivering a religious discourse on the final day of the three-day silver jubilee celebrations of Sri Raghavendra Math here which concluded on Sunday. He said such rituals would help people attain salvation.

Religious centres act as lighthouses and guiding lamps to enlighten one’s knowledge and devotion, the swamiji said.

He said that as and when men become older they feared death but institutions become stronger by the passage of time and years.

He lauded the Sri Bhagavad Gita movement taken up by the Swaranavalli swamiji and said that the entire Hindu community would become one through this.

Gangadharendra Saraswati Swamiji wished that reciting a few stanzas of Sri Bhagavad Gita be informally made compulsory before the commencement of any programme.

Sri Raghavendra Seva Samiti president S.S. Vernekar were present.
