Patient jumps to death in Vizag
Staff Reporter
VISAKHAPATNAM: A man jumped to his death from a top floor of a corporate hospital building at Ramnagar on Monday.
K.B.V. Ram Naik, 45, an employee of Survey of India, was psychologically upset after seeing his friend die in a road accident a few days ago.
He allegedly tried to kill himself by inflicting cuts on his body and was admitted to a private hospital for treatment.
He reportedly told someone that he was desperate to meet his friend.
On Monday morning after his son left the room to fetch him tea, Ram Naik came out of the hospital room and jumped to the ground below. The body was shifted to the King George Hospital (KGH) for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, activists of various peoples’ organisations went to the private hospital and staged a dharna alleging lack of security as the cause of death and demanded compensation for the victim’s family.
Three Town SI Siva Prasad said a case of negligence was booked against the hospital management and action would be initiated after an enquiry.
