Minister distributes bicycles to 123 students in Kanyakumari district

Foundation stone laid for buildings for self-help group women

Nagercoil: The State Government had been implementing various welfare measures for students by getting free text books, bicycles, uniforms and fee concession, said the Union Minister of State for Home, Radhika Selvi.

Distributing free bicycles to 123 students at Thovalai on Sunday, the Minister said that 21,032 students would be benefiting under the free bicycle schemes in Kanyakumari district. The Tourism Minister, N. Suresh Rajan, said that the development works to the tune of Rs.2.25 crore had been implemented in Thovalai panchayat union limit during the past one-and-half year.

Ms. Selvi laid the foundation stone for two women self-help group buildings to be built at Rs.1.65 lakh each and an open air auditorium to be built at Rs.1 lakh in Thovalai panchayat union.
