TIRUNELVELI: A Collectorate building, which has been constructed at Rs. 6.60 crore, will be declared open by the Local Administration Minister, M.K. Stalin, here on February 18.

The three-storied building, having a plinth area of 8,500 square metre, has three conference halls – an air-conditioned hall on the ground floor for conducting grievance day meetings, another air-conditioned hall with the capacity of 50 seats on the first floor and the third hall on the second floor with 250 seats.

Two elevators have been provided and the two ramps put on the both sides of the building will facilitate the entry of the physically challenged. Three deep borewells have been dug to supply water to the entire building as the Public Works Department has estimated that the daily water requirement of the departments to be housed on this new premise will be 20,000 litres a day.

Moreover, steps have been taken to provide 10,000 litres of drinking water to be supplied by the Tirunelveli Corporation.

Collector G. Prakash, who went around the new building with District Revenue Officer, G. Srinivasan, on Monday after the end of the weekly grievance day meeting, announced that the inaugural function would be held at 4.30 p.m. on February 18.
