Court evicts man from house
Staff Reporter
He should not sell gold ornaments, house or any other property: Judge
TIRUNELVELI: A court here has directed a man to move out of the house for misbehaving with his daughter-in-law.
According to a 36-year-old petitioner, who is working as a headmistress in a school near Vallanaadu in Tuticorin district, she was sexually harassed by her father-in-law, Kanagaraj, whenever her husband, working with armed reserve police at Palayamkottai, was away from home.
Though she took up the matter with her husband on several occasions, he did not take any action to stop the behaviour.
Against this backdrop, Kanagaraj again misbehaved with her on March 18, and her attempt to file a police complaint failed. She filed a case before the court here recently.
When the case came up for hearing, the third Judicial Magistrate, S. Hema, under the Domestic Violence Prevention Act, ordered on Monday that Kanagaraj should move out of the house immediately and should not sell the gold ornaments, house or any other property.
However, the judge allowed the husband to live in the same house, with a stern warning.
