dated January 29, 1958: Task before youth

Prime Minister Nehru, addressing a rally of the National Cadet Corps and the Auxiliary Cadet Corps, in New Delhi on January 27 said that “all our young boys and girls should learn to serve the country, uphold her honour and not do anything that may defame her.” He added, “We are all small parts of India and we must always remember that whether at work or play, we must do our best to uphold the honour of India. We must learn to work together. This entire country is ours.” The Prime Minister said that the young people could not serve their country without equipping themselves for this task. The N.C.C. and the A.C.C. helped them in developing a sense of patriotism and discipline and a spirit of working together.
