dated January 29, 1958: Atomic radiation effect

Mr. Dag Hammarskjoeld, United Nations Secretary General, on January 27 urged scientists, from Japan and 14 other countries, to replace “public speculation and alarm, too often nourished by misinformation” with a calm appraisal of the effects of atomic radiation. He observed that such speculation and alarm had “apparently increased” since the Committee first met almost two years ago.
