HCL Info posts higher revenue and profits

NEW DELHI: HCL Infosystems on Monday reported a consolidated revenue of Rs. 3,306.6 crore during the quarter ended December 31, 2007 as against Rs. 2,968.9 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, a growth of 11 per cent.

The company posted an increase in its net profit at Rs. 81.41 crore for the quarter as against Rs. 75.99 crore.

On a standalone basis the revenue was Rs. 3,296.91 crore against Rs. 652.83 crore and the net profit was Rs. 83.19 crore against Rs. 34.76 crore in the year-ago period.

The standalone figures of the year-ago period do not include the telecommunication and office automation business of the erstwhile HCL Infinet Limited which was amalgamated with the company.

Announcing results here, HCL Infosystems Chairman and CEO Ajai Chowdhry said: “A further consolidation of HCL’s position as the leading technology provider for enterprises, organisations and consumers enabled us to deliver yet another quarter of noteworthy growth.

“Our system integration business gained further traction with a stream of new orders and project wins, while digital lifestyle products business rode the festival season to deliver impressive numbers.

“This quarter was also noteworthy for strong growth in PC sales, particularly of HCL Leaptops. A sustained expansion of HCL Digilife stores deeper into the country was another highlight of the quarter.”

Second interim

Revenue from the computer systems business was Rs. 911 crore as against Rs.652.80 crore, while earnings from the telecommunication and office automation business was Rs. 2,395.10 crore as against Rs. 2,309.50 crore. Consolidated EPS for the quarter was Rs.4.8 per share as against Rs.4.5 per share in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The board of directors has declared quarterly second interim dividend of Rs. 2 per share.
