Badani stars for Chennai Superstars

Chennai: Man-of-the-Match Hemang Badani’s unbeaten 88 (6 x 4, 3 x 6) helped Chennai Superstars secure a two-wicket victory over Hyderabad Heroes in the second match of the ICL 50’s at Mayajaal on Monday.

Put in to bat, Hyderabad Heroes made 263 in 50 overs with Ambati Rayudu making 103 (10 x 4, 1 x 6) and having a 161-run partnership with skipper Anirudh Singh (77) for the second wicket. Superstars’ G. Vignesh took three for 40.

Chennai Superstars got off to a decent start but lost its first wicket with the score at 37.

S. Sriram and opener Hemanth Kumar put on 79 for the second wicket. Kumar was in fine form, striking a run-a-ball 64. Superstars then lost four wickets with the score at 116 after which Badani strung together two 50-plus run partnerships.

The scores: Hyderabad Heroes 263 for seven (Anirudh Singh 77, Ambati Rayudu 103, G, Vignesh three for 40) lost to Chennai Superstars 264 for eight in 49.1 overs (Hemanth Kumar 64, Hemang Badani 88 not out).
