Maharashtra clinches two golds

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Maharashtra won two gold medals on the opening day of the National schools taekwondo championship at the Jimmy George indoor stadium here on Monday.

Avinash in the boys’ fly weight category and Rohan Benjar in the feather weight category were the winners. Sanodam Devi of Manipur won the gold in girls’ fly weight category.

The results:

Boys: Fly weight: 1. Avinash (Mah), 2. Nayan Boro (Asm), 3. Ranjan Kumar (Bih) & A. Mahendra (Goa); Feather weight: 1. Rohan Benjar (Mah), 2. Rakesh Kumar Chaudhary (Jhkd), 3. Shekim Prem Singh (Mani) & Lamchakar (Miz).

Girls: 1. Sanodam Devi (Mani), 3. Sukanya Ghatak (Asm),3. Richa Rai (MP) & Raksh Chauthala (Ukd).
