BERHAMPUR: Fear of public humiliation compelled a married man and his ‘paramour’ to commit suicide by hanging themselves at a house at jail road of the city on Sunday night. Their bodies were recovered on Monday morning. According to the neighbours, the two took the extreme step after the wife of the married man unearthed their illicit relationship. A police team from Baidyanathpur police station recovered the two bodies and sent them for post-mortem. The deceased were identified as Litu Sasmal, 35, and Pinky, 20. Sasmal of Badakusasthali village married Snehalata Sasmal in 2000 and also had a five-year-old child. He had preferred to come over to Berhampur after marriage as his in-laws stayed in the city. According to Snehalata, her husband was not providing any income for the family and she was managing the home by running a small shop at Goilundi area of the city. But she never knew that her husband was having an illicit relationship. However, on Sunday evening Snehalata could locate her husband with Pinky at a rented house at jail road. She threatened to inform the police and relatives about it. Later, Sasmal and Pinky committed suicide by hanging themselves.
