Builders under scanner now

BHUBANESWAR: A brief interrogation of mafia don of Uttar Pradesh Brijesh Singh by the city police and subsequent seizure of documents from his flat reportedly threw light of his contacts in real estate business and builders are under the scanner now.

Police was looking for his proximity with the city-based real estate developers even as the police officials distanced themselves giving comments on the matter.

On Monday, the police started examining bank accounts of Singh and sought permission from other banks to access his accounts, police sources said. Details of bank transactions are expected to help investigators know his links in Orissa circle.

The city police got a chance to question the don for a few hours while he was detained in the Kharavelanagar Police Station on Thursday.

He admitted that he was foraying into real estate business. Subsequently, police also got a clue about an under construction apartment in Bhubaneswar in which Brijesh Singh was involved.

Sources said police was in process of documenting builders in their respective zones.

Information on real estate developers was quite unorganised. Even the state government has failed to keep tab on them.

Recently, Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) had initiated process of registering builders with it.
