CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Medical Council has cancelled the registration of a doctor for five years following his conviction by a court for violation of the Pre-natal Diagnostic Technique Act.(PNDT Act) Haryana Medical Council Registrar K. K. Kapoor said here on Monday that the registration of Dr. M. P. Kamboj had been cancelled as he was convicted by the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Hisar on January 10 for committing an offence under the PNDT Act. Director-General Health Services Avinash Sharma said such strict action would go a long way in checking malpractices in the health system. Haryana, she added, was the first State in the country to have recorded five convictions for sex determination under the PNDT Act.
