Guide released for tenth standard students

THANJAVUR: Collector C. Vijayaraj Kumar on Monday released a student guide book “ITI Mudhal IAS Varai” brought out by Malaimagal Foundation for Educational Social and Cultural Development for free distribution to tenth and plus two standard students.

Chief Educational Officer A. S. Radhakrishnan received the first copy.

According to P.Saravanan, Chairman and Managing Trustee of the foundation, the first edition of the book was published in 2005, copies of which were distributed free to all high schools and higher secondary schools in Thanjavur district. In addition, the plus two students of select rural schools were given copies of the book. Now the trust has released the enlarged version.

Complimentary copies of the book will be distributed to all high schools and higher secondary schools in Thanjavur district, in addition to the plus two students of select rural schools, Saravanan said.

The foundation is a registered public charitable trust with noble objectives of educational, social and cultural development in rural areas. The core activities of the trust are educational and career guidance and vocational and self employment training. The trust has instituted endowments in rural schools to award prizes every year to the students who excel in tenth and twelfth public examinations.

Motivational and guidance programmes are conducted for the benefit of plus two students before they appear for public examinations. School uniforms are distributed every year to the poor students studying in the seven elementary and middle schools in Ottangadu panchayat of Peravurani panchayat union. The trust is running a training centre at Ottangadu village in which six months free training is given in tailoring to rural women, especially the members of self help groups.
