Udupi: The meeting of seers of the Ashta Maths called by Vishwesha Tirtha Swamiji of Pejawar Math to discuss issues such as a constitution for the Ashta Maths, smooth conduct of worship of Lord Krishna at Sri Krishna Math/Temple and other matters, ended in disagreement here on Monday. Speaking to presspersons, Vishwesha Tirtha Swamiji said: “The meeting discussed the smooth conduct of ‘Krishna Puja’, need for a constitution for Ashta Maths and other issues. Some seers stuck to their positions on various matters. As there were disagreements on certain issues, no unanimous decision could be reached. Still, the doors are open for exchange of views. We may hold a meeting on Tuesday or talk over the telephone. There is still room for discussions.” Despite queries, the Pejawar seer refused to be drawn into the details of the meeting or the views about the seers on issues. “I had called the meeting. The meeting was harmonious. I will not say anything more on it,” he said. The Pejawar seer said Sugunendra Tirtha Swamiji of Paryaya Puttige Math; Vidyadheesha Tirtha Swamiji of Palimar Math; Vidyavallabha Tirtha Swamiji of Kaniyur Math; Vishwavallabha Tirtha Swamiji of Sode Vadiraja Math; Lakshmivara Tirtha Swamiji of Shiroor Math; and representatives of Krishnapur Math attended the meeting.
