COLOMBO: The Sri Lankan military on Monday claimed to have killed at least 37 cadres of the Tigers along the Forward Defence Lines (FDLs) in the north. The pro-LTTE TamilNet claimed that the Liberation Tigers fired on Monday at the Palali airbase when a helicopter carrying “top military officials” from Colombo was about to land. “Tension prevailed in Palali military complex as around 20 shells hit the base,” said informed sources. All military and civilian transports were cancelled. Meanwhile, Jaffna experienced a power-cut and the mobile phone links remained cut-off as Sri Lanka Army stepped up heavy artillery fire on LTTE Forward Defense Line.”
