Smooth sailing for Suburban

Coimbatore: Suburban HSS and Mani HSS scored convincing wins to enter the semifinals of the CDCA under-17 inter- school cricket tournament for the TSS & Co Trophy at the SNR Sons grounds here on Monday.

Suburban notched up a 102-run win over Park’s MHSS (Tirupur) and Mani’s posted a 118-run win over Kikani HSS.

The scores: Quarterfinals: Suburban HSS 218 for seven in 25 overs (N. Siddarth 50) bt Park MHSS (Tirupur) 116 in 25 overs; Mani HSS 194 for five in 25 overs (S. Vasanth 40) bt Kikani HSS 76 in 18 overs.

Easy for Cosmo Village

Cosmo Village Sports Academy registered a four-wicket win over Red Diamonds Cricket Club in the Canara Bank-CDCA second division league for the Unidrive Line Trophy at the on Sunday.

The scores: Second division: Red Diamonds CC 135 in 36.4 overs lost to Cosmo Village SA 138 for six in 29.2 overs. Fourth division: Miracle CC 211 in 29.3 overs (Venkatesh 50) bt Tirupur CA 139 in 36.3 overs; Rainbow Jeeva CC 147 in 35.2 overs (Anbu 40) bt Ram Nagar CC 127 in 46.1 overs (T.S. Rajendran 40 not out).

Treble for Elgi MHSS

Elgi MHSS clinched a triple title in the district level schools basketball tournament at the CSI Bishop Appasamy College courts on Sunday.

In the under-14 boys’ section, Elgi drubbed Sindhi Vidyalaya 29-8 for the Lakshmi Ceramics Trophy and followed it up with facile wins over St. Joseph’s (33-12 & 57-15) to lift the Suguna G. Ramasamy Rolling Trophy and the Dr. MGR Rolling Trophy.

The results: Boys: u-14: Elgi MHSS 29 bt Sindhi Vidyalaya MHSS 8. Girls: High School: Elgi 33 bt St. Joseph’s MS 12. Higher Secondary: Elgi 57 bt St. Joseph’s MHSS 17. Vikram scalps six

At Udhagamandalam, Vikram Sharma picked six for 22, including a hat-trick, in Nilgiris Cricket Club’s seven-wicket win over Kents Cricket Club in the Canara Bank-NDCA ‘A’ division league for the K-Lite Rolling Trophy at the Lawrence School grounds here on Sunday.

The scores: ‘A’ division: Kents CC 143 (J. Christopher Lawrence 52, Vikram Sharma six for 22) lost to Nilgiris CC 146 for three in 29.1 overs (R.K. Magesh 79 not out); Yankees CC 178 bt Fern Hill YSC 135; New Star CC 155 (A. Jose 58) lost to Yankees CC 156 for five in 21.4 overs (Arun K. Nair 67).
