Words of praise for the youth

Governor R.L. Bhatia reserved a few but glowing words for the youth of the State in his Republic Day address.

He said he saw the future of Kerala in the indomitable spirit of hundreds of unknown “warriors,” chiefly young people.

Mr. Bhatia highlighted the case of Mukesh, a youth unfazed by his health problems.

He said Mukesh, who was fighting for his life following a serious post-surgery crisis, worked at a petrol pump to provide for his widowed mother.

Mr. Bhatia, who seemed touched by Mukesh’s life, said the youth was optimistic of regaining his health and was undaunted by all the odds life seemed to have stacked against him.

Mukesh’s only prayer now was that he should be able to continue working for the sake of his mother, Mr. Bhatia said.
