Thiruvananthapuram: Water Resources Minister N.K. Premachandran has ordered an inquiry into the death of three workers digging a branch canal of the Banasura Sagar irrigation scheme owing to caving in of soil. The probe will be conducted by a committee chaired by Principal Secretary for Irrigation K. Jayakumar and comprising M.K. Parameswaran Nair and T.K. Gopalakrishnan Nair. The committee has been asked to look into the inordinate delay in the execution of the Banasura Sagar and the Karappuzha irrigation schemes, and the action plan for completing the work in a time-bound manner . The report is to be submitted within two months.
