Bangalore: The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday adjourned further hearing on a case relating to acquisition of land for the Diamond District on Airport Road, Bangalore. The court had, during earlier hearings, taken to task both the State Government and the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) for sale of land on Airport Road in Kodihalli, Bangalore. Justice Rammohan Reddy, who is hearing the petition, adjourned further hearing on the case to February 19. Part of the land on which Diamond District has been built had come under the scanner of the High Court and a report filed by the KSTDC said the entire transaction relating to the corporation land appears to have been done in a particular manner to help an agreement holder violate the Land Acquisition Act and the Land Rules. The report says that, “shady transactions have taken place at the highest level and lands acquired for specific purpose of the KSTDC could not be utilised for the purpose for which they were meant. The officers who have handled the issue are now no longer in service. The court may direct a detailed inquiry into the scandal”.
