Staff Reporter

Bangalore: The Malenadu-Karavali Ulisi Bhoo Horata Samithi has alleged that the district authorities in Chikmagalur district are preventing the people of neighbouring districts from participating in a rally being organised at Kalasa against acquisition of agricultural land for special economic zones (SEZ) and power plants in coastal and Malnad region.

Addressing a press conference in Bangalore on Tuesday, Anitha H., president of Mahila Jagruthi, Shimoga, also alleged that the district police were threatening the parents of young activists, who were campaigning for the rally.

She said they told the parents that criminal cases would be booked against their children if they continued their campaign against Government projects.
