Syndicate Bank posts profit

BANGALORE: Syndicate Bank has posted a net profit of Rs. 273.20 crore for the third quarter of this fiscal and achieving a growth of 21 per cent.

Announcing the third quarter results of the bank here today Chairman of the bank C.P. Swarnakar, in a press conference, said that the cumulative net profit of the bank for the last nine months had increased from Rs. 612 crore on December 31, 2006 to Rs.722 crore.

The Chairman also said that the bank has launched Synd SMS Banking — a mobile banking facility. Enquiries through SMS regarding balance outstanding, term deposit details, cheque clearance status, stop payment and viewing of last five transactions were now available.
