Vigilance probe ordered
Special Correspondent
Thiruvananthapuram: A Vigilance inquiry has been ordered into the misuse of funds granted to the Malabar Devaswom Board for retrieving alienated land of various temples under its purview.
Minister for Devaswom and Cooperation G. Sudhakaran told mediapersons here on Tuesday that Rs.91.93 lakh sanctioned by the government was not used to retrieve the properties of the temples.
Hence, the government had decided to conduct a Vigilance inquiry.
The government had sanctioned a grant of Rs.83.2 lakh to 426 temples in six districts in Malabar.
This was 10 per cent more than the grant sanctioned in the previous years, he said.
