Sachin Dholpure scores century

CHENNAI: Sachin Dholpure’s quickfire 103 (95 balls, 10x4, 4x6) was instrumental in Delhi Jets scripting a six-wicket win over Mumbai Champs in the third match of the Indian Cricket League domestic one-day cricket tournament at Mayajaal Grounds here on Tuesday.

Mumbai Champs, opting to bat, was served well by its captain Kiran Powar who scored a fine 92.

Mumbai Champs was off to a good start as its openers Robin Morris and Dheeraj Yadav took the score to 64. Dheeraj Yadav struck 49 runs to get the innings going for the Champs.

Powar played a true captain’s knock to score a belligerent 55-ball 92 that included four sixes. Meanwhile, Nikhil Mandale (60 not out, 45b) was at his fluid best and was a perfect foil for Powar’s big hitting.

The two added 128 runs off 78 balls for the fifth wicket.

Delhi reached the target in the 39th over thanks to big hitting, wayward bowling and inept fielding by the Champs. Dholpure was given adequate support by Abbas Ali (43).

Delhi Jets skipper J.P. Yadav, who smashed 82 off 64 balls forged a 153-run partnership with Dholpure for the third wicket. The stand turned out to be crucial for Delhi Jets.

The scores: Mumbai Champs 304 for six in 50 overs (Kiran Powar 92, Nikhil Mandle 60 n.o., Dheeraj Yadav 49) lost to Delhi Jets 307 for four in 38.4 overs (Sachin Dholpure 103, J.P. Yadav 82, Abbas Ali 43).
