Ham operators to provide services to participants

VIJAYAWADA: AMSAT-IN (Indian Amateur Radio Satellite Programme), which coordinates rescue efforts during natural disaster through its Ham radio, will provide its services to the participants of the Tiranga Run on February 3, according to K.V. Prasad Naidu, the group country Indian coordinator.

Mr. Naidu said in a release on Tuesday that Amsat would be deploying around 5,000 short wave listeners (SWLs) of Ham Radio for the run. Kurukshetra MP Naveen Jindal, a senior SWL of Ham Radio, was also expected to participate in the event. The Amsat-In would also be helping through some philanthropic organisations the family of Pingali Venkaiah, the designer of national flag in whose memory the run is being organised. Mr. Naidu said that the Amsat group offers extensive round-the-clock emergency services and options on emergencies through satellite communications.
