Staff Reporter
Marking boundaries: A worker helping in the survey of disputed mining area between BIOC and OMC in Anantapur district on Tuesday.
H.SIDDAPURAM (ANANTAPUR DT.): A three-member team comprising Conservator of Forest (Anantapur) S.N. Jadhav, Regional Joint Director of Mines & Geology A.V. Subba Reddy and Regional deputy Director of Land Survey & Records G. Satyanarayana took up a survey here on Tuesday to fix the boundaries of two mining leases in neighbouring villages of Obulapuram and H. Siddapuram in D. Hirehal mandal in the district, which sparked off tension between two the lease- holders from January 14.
The survey was taken up on the directions of the High Court in a petition filed by Bellary Iron Ore Company (BIOC), which accused Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) of trespassing into its area . Briefing mediapersons at the ‘disputed site’ Mr. Subba Reddy said they would fix the boundaries for survey no. 1 of Obulapuram and survey no. 1 of H. Siddapuram. If the team failed to fix the boundaries it would take the centre point of the two villages.
