Now get power bills by e-mail, mobile

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Power distribution company BSES will now provide electricity bills to its customers online and through SMS. It will send the bills through e-mails and SMS for customers’ convenience.

According to a BSES spokesperson, these new services are being introduced following feedback from customers. “They are also benchmarked against current international practices across service utilities. With bills being made available by e-mail, customers will not need to wait for their BRPL/BYPL electricity bill to be delivered at their doorstep,” said a BSES spokesperson.

Customers will have the option of taking a printed copy of the e-bill at their convenience, but the discom will not stop delivery of electricity bills to customers.

“The SMS service will offer customers the convenience of receiving current billing information (bill amount with due date). In the second phase, to be launched shortly, customers will also be able to receive acknowledgment of their electricity bill payments made through non-cash payment modes -- cheque, demand draft, electronic clearance system, and online payment,” the spokesperson said.

“Over time, we will launch useful services like intimation about planned outages among others, to those registered,” the spokesperson.

Initially the bill on e-mail and SMS will be available only to domestic and commercial customers. Later these initiatives will be extended to other categories of customers.

“It is very easy to register for bills on e-mail and SMS. Customers can log in on to BSES’ website www.bsesdelhi.com and fill up an online form or visit their local BSES customer care centre or call BSES’ helpline numbers 39999808 and 39999707,” the spokesperson said.
