Reliance opens battlefield for gamers

All set to open fourth edition of Gamebox National Championship 2008


Winners of Counter Strike will be given Rs. 2-lakh prize

Winners of Single Player games to get Rs. 40,000 each




New-age pastime: Counter Strike 1.6 will be one of the games that will feature at the Gamebox National Championship 2008.

HYDERABAD: Old times may have witnessed knights jostling for fame. Now its time to prepare for glory in the world of virtual reality as Reliance World is back with the fourth edition of Gamebox National Championships 2008.

Gamebox National Championships 2008 is all set to be the biggest virtual battle field for over 15,000 gamers from all over the country.

Over 4,500 gaming terminals have been installed at 242 Reliance World outlets spread in 105 cities for gamers to shoot it out in multiplayer and single player games. The championships will have top five games that include the hit multiplayer game, Counter Strike 1.6 and single player games such as Age of Mythology, Half-Life 2- Deathmatch, Need for Speed: Underground and Warcraft III- frozen Throne. Those taking part in Counter Strike 1.6 should not have more than five players in their clan.

Finals in Mumbai

The competition will be held at four levels -- Store, Circle, Zonal and National. One multiplayer team and four single gamers will be selected from each zone to compete in the finals that will take place in Mumbai.

Winners of the multiplayer game will be given Rs.2 lakh as prize and winners of the single player games will receive Rs.40,000 each. Gamers can register for the competition at their nearest Reliance World outlet. The last date for registrations is January 30th.

Schedule

Store level competitions will take place on January 31 and February 1, Circle level is slated for February 2nd and 3rd, Zonal level competitions on February 4th and 5th and the finals will take place in Mumbai on February 9-10.
