Hospital to treat ex-servicemen

Staff Correspondent

Chitradurga: PVS Hospital here has become the first in the State to be authorised to implement the free health scheme for ex-servicemen.

Speaking to presspersons here on Wednesday, founder of the hospital P.V. Sridharmurthy said the Union Government-sponsored scheme was being implemented through military hospitals in places such as Bangalore and Belgaum, but private hospitals had hitherto not been part of the scheme. He said family members of any ex-serviceman could avail themselves of free treatment at the hospital. “The benefits range from minor treatment to major surgery,” he said.

Dr. Sridharmurthy said any ex-service personnel from the country could make use of the facilities on production of his or her identity card. All expenses towards treatment would be reimbursed by the Government. He said it had taken around two years for the hospital to obtain approval.
